Job Description

We are seeking a talented Spacecraft Imagery Systems Engineer to join our team working on the Simulation and Advanced Software Services II Contract. This role focuses on the design development and integration of imagery systems for spacecraft. Candidates with experience in camera systems from industries like automotive aviation architectural or industrial environments are encouraged to apply as we value transferable skills in imagery technology and analysis. Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the specification design and development of high-resolution camera systems sensors and imaging payloads for spacecraft applications including star trackers navigation cameras external and internal spacecraft cameras and scientific instruments.
  • Collaborate with avionics software electrical mechanical and human factors engineering teams to integrate imaging systems into spacecraft architectures ensuring compatibility with power data and structural constraints.
  • Plan and execute rigorous testing protocols (e.g. thermal vacuum vibration radiation) to ensure imaging systems perform reliably in space environments.
  • Create detailed technical documentation including requirements design specifications and test plans adhering to NASA standards.
  • Work closely with mission planners payload scientists and systems engineers to align imaging systems with mission objectives such as planetary observation or orbital navigation


Required Qualifications:
  • 2 years of experience designing developing or integrating camera systems imaging sensors or vision systems.
  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Optical Engineering Aerospace Engineering Mechanical Engineering or a related field or equivalent industry experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills capable of interacting with stakeholders in all roles and levels of the organization.
  • Direct experience with camera hardware (e.g. CMOS/CCD sensors lenses etc.) and/or digital camera imaging pipelines.


Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with camera systems for harsh environments (e.g. automotive exterior cameras aviation imaging systems or industrial hazardous area imaging).
  • Familiarity with spacecraft camera interfaces such as GigE USB MIPI etc.
  • Knowledge of radiation effects on imaging sensors and mitigation strategies.
  • Experience with embedded systems or real-time software for imaging applications.
  • Understanding of space mission requirements or standards (e.g. MIL-STD NASA-STD).


Citizenship or lawful permanent resident required due to federal position.
