The Claims Adjuster reviews and analyzes moderate to complex routine first party homeowners claims to determine extent of insurance carriers liability and the extent of damaged property to recommend settlement amounts in order. This position also concludes claims with policyholders in accordance with policy provisions and applicable insurance statutes and laws. Investigations are more involved often relying on consultant expert opinion and/or use of specialized tradesman to assist with coverage and damage determinations. Claims handled by this role could involve multiple parties (attorneys public adjusters contractors) and generally have longer life cycles.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Review the insurance policy endorsements and related information to make a coverage determination for moderate to complex claims.
Conduct the appropriate claim investigation and direct the investigation of any assigned resources.
Communicate expectations to customers and have oversight of all vendors involved in the claim investigation.
Obtain any physical evidence develop third party information and theory of liability conduct recorded interviews and secure official records.
Review policy adjusters reports damage estimates expert reports and any other documentation needed to make the appropriate coverage and loss decisions to conclude assigned claims.
Recognize and submit subrogation underwriting and SIU referrals as necessary.
Maintain file documentation file notes and investigation documentation on each assigned claim in accordance with company guidelines.
Write create and edit estimates based on customers information or independent adjusters information utilizing computerized estimating system.
Write create and edit letter to confirm status or decision.
Make recommendations and decisions based on claim documentation and investigation.
Provide prompt service to policyholders utilizing phone fax mail and electronic mail.
Communicate with all customers in a professional manner and comply with customer service objectives.
Successfully complete training and maintain FL License by meeting Continuing Education requirements.
Operate in accordance with Florida Statutes.
Mentor employees and assist with training as needed.
May participate in CAT duty as needed.

EDUCATION
Bachelors Degree or higher required.
Equivalent experience may substitute for minimum educational requirements. Equivalent experience may include three (3) years of relevant experience.
EXPERIENCE
Minimum of three (3) years of relevant adjusting experience required.

Ability to obtain and maintain adjusters license in Florida required.
