About the Program
Join us for a 12-week hands-on internship experience where youll gain real-world exposure to the construction industry while contributing to meaningful projects that drive impact Boyd Jones Construction. Our interns are not here to just observe youll collaborate with experienced professionals sharpen your skills and leave with tangible accomplishments to add to your resume.
What Youll Gain
- Practical experience applying classroom knowledge to real-world construction challenges.
- Exposure to all phases of the project lifecycle from preconstruction through closeout.

Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing conceptual and detailed cost estimates.
- Create bid packages solicit and review subcontractor/vendor bids and perform bid analysis.
- Track and document design and cost changes throughout preconstruction.
- Perform quantity take-offs and develop unit cost and production rate data.
- Identify and evaluate value engineering opportunities.
- Maintain preconstruction schedules and communicate milestones.
- Prepare professional proposals and supporting narratives for clients.
- Visit active job sites to compare actual performance to preconstruction assumptions.
- Support relationship-building with clients designers and subcontractors.
What youll bring
- Current enrollment in an accredited program in Construction Management Construction Engineering or a related field.
- Valid drivers license and reliable transportation to job sites.
- Strong analytical math and problem-solving skills.
- Clear written and verbal communication abilities.
- Self-motivated and eager to learn.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with scheduling software is a plus.
Schedule & Work Environment
- Full-time 40 hours/week for 12 weeks during summer.
- Primarily field-based with some office assignments.
- Opportunities to work on major commercial and institutional projects.
