A GET/DET job descriptionoutlines an entry-level training position for Graduate Engineer Trainees (GETs) and Diploma Engineer Trainees (DETs) where they learn by assisting senior engineers with practical design analysis testing and maintenance tasks gaining hands-on experience to prepare for full-time engineering roles after their training period.
GET/DET Job Description & Responsibilities:
- Assisting Senior Engineers:Provide support to experienced engineers on various project aspects.
- Design & Detailing:Create part assembly and fabrication drawings using CAD software.
- Technical Analysis:Analyze data and write technical reports according to specifications.
- Hands-On Work:Perform basic maintenance testing and troubleshooting on equipment.
- Documentation:Prepare technical reports and documentation as required for projects.
- Project Support:Assist in overseeing project installations and commissioning.
- Quality & Safety:Support activities to ensure safety and quality standards are met.
Key Qualifications:
- Education:GETs typically require a Bachelors degree () in engineering while DETs are for Diploma holders from Polytechnic or NTTF.
- Skills:Proficiency in CAD software analytical thinking and effective communication are essential.
- Soft Skills:Teamwork collaboration and a willingness to learn are crucial for success.
Training and Career Path:
- The training period which can last for a year or more involves hands-on learning practical experience and formal assessments.
- Upon successful completion of the training trainees may be offered a confirmed position as an Engineer or Senior Engineer depending on the companys policies.
