Assistant Professor of English The School of English and Humanities at Spartanburg Methodist College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of English position specializing in Rhetoric and Composition beginning in fall 2026. The position is in-person on our campus in Spartanburg SC. The English Department offers associate and bachelors degree programs. Teaching responsibilities will include lower-level General Education composition courses and upper-level courses such as Technical Writing; Studies in Nonfiction Writing; Rhetorics of Style and Argument; and Rhetoric Writing and Digital Media. The teaching load is 4/4. The successful candidate should have experience and interest in innovative pedagogies demonstrate a record of teaching excellence possess a commitment to service and show potential for research and scholarship. The successful candidate will also have experience with first-generation non-traditional and/or traditionally underserved student populations. We particularly welcome applications from candidates who have experience or interest in leading first-year composition programs.
