The Sr. Design Engineer will conceptualize design integrate and document mechanical-focused hardware using computer-aided design mechanical analyses and consistent coordination and communication across teams to ensure successful hardware performance. Application of design for manufacturing and assembly best practices will be a critical skill set to be successful in this position. This role may also include leading teams in the completion of abovetasks. The primary work location will be on-site at the Raytheon Tucson office. Willingness to perform work in proprietary spaces may be required based on program assignment. Some travel may be required to meet and work with vendors and to support testing and other activities as needed.

What You Will Do

  • Work with engineers across the business to propose design develop integrate and document within the mechanical design department.

  • Communicate with cross-disciplined engineering team members and suppliers to design model and document the design technical data package (TDP) and its capabilities and compliance to requirements

  • Work under limited supervision and act as the responsible design authority


Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a degree in Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

  • 5 years of experience in mechanical design and/or development preferablydefense-related components or systems.

  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) basic tolerance analyses drawing practices and/or interpretation (ASME Y-14.5) for mechanical hardware

  • Understanding of military or aerospace or defense specifications and/or industry design standards

  • Experience in Computer-aided Design (CAD) experience using Creo and/or Pro E or cPDM

Qualifications We Prefer

  • 8 years of experience in mechanical design development and/or testpreferably ofdefense-related components or systems

  • Experience in airframe development electronics packaging mechanisms for missiles or similar applications

  • Understanding of and experience with the use of additive manufacturing for metallic structures and components

  • Understanding and experience of manufacturing techniques and assembly best practices

  • A passion for design for manufacturability and assembly (DFMA)

  • Experience with advanced surfacing techniques for complex geometry

  • Knowledge and experience in top-down design methodology and skeleton design

  • Demonstrated collaboration with cross-disciplined teams using trust respect and innovation to drive results towards a shared vision

  • Experience with effective communication (written and verbal) during collaboration with others to document designactions and results to perform trade studies and to communicate to programmanagement and customers through presentations and reports

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint) for technical analysis data sorting/plotting and technical documentation

  • Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 82000 USD - 164000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including but not limited to individual performance business unit performance and/or the companys performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
