Systems Engineer (Windows and Linux)
- Systems Engineer (Windows and Linux)
- Hybrid-working from Manchester
- 55000 to 60000 per year

The Opportunity:
Im on the lookout for Systems Engineer to provide technical support for a field engineering team who are undertaking installation commissioning and maintenance activities fortechnologies on the UK motorway network.
You will support the operation of a national communication system providing operational and technical support to customers system users and other stakeholders while ensuring delivery and maintenance tasks are undertaken to a high standard.
Skills and Experience:
- A proven background working as a Systems Engineer in an engineering environment (defence telecoms rail highways energy etc.)
- Windows and Linux configuration and system administration skills including experience with the following:
- Build and maintain clusters
- Operation of Hypervisor and virtual machines within clusters
- System administration with products such as Linux and LUCI
- Linux shell and scripting tools including bash
- Disk partitioning
- Strong IP networking skills including addressing subnetting IP networks routing etc.
- Experience working with highways technology or traffic signals would be highly desirable
Role and Responsibilities:
- Support the operations of a team working on the live national communication system
- Provide operational and technical support to customers system users and other stakeholders
- Undertake fault investigation and dissemination of relevant diagnostic information
- Produce technical documents system design specifications test specifications etc.
