The Instructor of English/Composition candidate will teach first-year composition advanced writing and related courses that support the Universitys general education curriculum. This is a part-time position. The instructor will contribute to the intellectual life of the University by fostering excellence in writing instruction supporting student success and engaging in departmental and university service.


Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate courses in English composition rhetoric and related writing-intensive courses.
  • Develop syllabi lesson plans and course materials in alignment with departmental standards and accreditation requirements.
  • Assess student learning outcomes and provide timely feedback to support writing development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative writing courses and support interdisciplinary initiatives.
  • Participate in assessment accreditation and program review activities.
  • Provide academic guidance and support to students in the English program and general education courses.
  • Mentor students in academic writing critical thinking and communication skills.
  • Refer students to appropriate campus resources to enhance their academic success.
  • Engage in scholarly activities such as research publication and conference participation.
  • Participate in departmental college and university committees as assigned.
  • Support student success initiatives and contribute to a culture of academic excellence.
  • Engage in outreach efforts to strengthen writing across the curriculum.

Education

  • Masters degree in English Rhetoric and Composition or a closely related field.
  • Evidence of effective teaching in English composition at the college or university level.
  • Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
