Under general supervision this position is responsible for performing routine technical work maintaining the technology infrastructure used by public safety (EMS Fire and Police). Reports to the Information Technology Director.
Provides technical support for staff and public access desktops laptops and printers for hardware software and connectivity issues; researches troubleshoots and resolves problems; performs virus detection analysis; ensures appropriate security measures are in place for individuals and departments; assists with installing software updates and maintains patch management; and installs new hardware and software as necessary.
Manages and supports critical communication systems used by emergency services including radio systems dispatch software and mobile data terminals (MDTs); maintains the hardware and software infrastructure that supports emergency response ensuring all systems are functioning optimally at all times.
Provides IT support for emergency services personnel ensuring they can access the tools they need for efficient operations; diagnoses and resolves issues with emergency services technology quickly to minimize downtime during critical events; and troubleshoots issues related to hardware software and network connectivity during emergencies.
Oversees the integrity and security of emergency services data including case reports dispatch logs and emergency call records; implements and maintains cybersecurity protocols to protect sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access or data breaches; and ensures emergency communication systems (e.g. radio systems 911 call systems GIS-based mapping systems) are operational and secure.
Trains staff on the use of innovative technologies systems and software tools; creates and maintains technical documentation for systems; participates in disaster recovery planning to ensure IT services recover quickly in the event of disruption or failure.

Required Knowledge
Information Technology Knowledge of computer systems and business applications. Understanding of data processing principles and practices related to applications development and programming. Knowledge of multiple computer languages and software applications.
Customer Service Considerable knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service. This includes setting and meeting quality standards for services and evaluating customer satisfaction.

Critical Thinking Using logic and reasoning to understand analyze and evaluate complex situations and then to research information to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions conclusions or approaches to the situation.
Required Abilities
Analytical Ability to research identify and resolve critical problems of information systems to include troubleshooting for hardware and software problems. Ability to perform logical problem solving based on knowledge of Microsoft Systems transmission control protocol/Internet protocol networking and various software applications.
Communication Ability to effectively communicate ideas to include the preparation of reports and logs. Ability to listen and understand information and ideas being presented verbally and in writing. Ability to manage a variety of customer service issues with tact and diplomacy and in a confidential manner.
Requires an Associates Degree in Information Technology or a closely related field and 3-4 years of experience in IT support or systems management preferably in an emergency services environment or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Requires a comprehensive background investigation to include a local state and federal criminal history check; satisfactory results from substance use testing and sex offender registry.
A valid drivers license with an acceptable driving record.
