A Helper cum Operator isan entry-level or support role where an individual performs tasks as a helper to an operator while also learning to operate machinery.Responsibilities typically include assisting with machine setup and operation performing routine maintenance monitoring equipment maintaining quality and safety standards and completing production paperwork.This dual role provides on-the-job training and experience making it an ideal stepping stone to becoming a fully skilled machine operator.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting with Machine Operations:This includes supporting an experienced operator learning about the mechanical functionality of the machinery and potentially hanging print plates or preparing tools.
- Learning Machine Operation:The helper gradually takes on more operational duties gradually becoming proficient in running the equipment.
- Performing Maintenance:Tasks may involve cleaning machinery troubleshooting basic issues and conducting routine checks to ensure proper functioning.
- Quality Control:Monitoring production to ensure it meets quality standards and assisting in basic quality checks.
- Safety and Housekeeping:Following strict safety procedures such aslockout/tagout proceduresand maintaining a clean and organized work area.
- Paperwork and Documentation:Accurately filling out production paperwork reading work orders and following reporting processes.
- Materials Handling:Assisting with the movement of materials and supplies including delivering scrap to designated areas.
Typical Requirements:
- Education:A high school diploma or equivalent is often sufficient.
- Skills:Mechanical aptitude attention to detail a strong sense of urgency and the ability to follow instructions are valuable.
