Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage archaeological projects across Texas and surrounding states.
- Conduct fieldwork identifying artifacts and assessing the presence of archaeological sites.
- Collect and document field samples and data during archaeological investigations.
- Analyze historical and prehistoric artifacts and features.
- Review write and contribute to portions of archaeological reports and site forms.
- Assist in making project decisions and resolving adverse effects on cultural resources.
- Collaborate with field lab office and administrative staff to ensure high-quality project delivery.
- Support business development efforts by assisting with proposals budgets and marketing materials.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Masters Degree in Anthropology or a closely related field.
- Meets the Secretary of the Interiors Professional Qualification Standards for Archaeologists.
- 5 years of experience in CRM archaeology (at least 3 years in leadership roles).
- Knowledge of Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act and the Antiquities Code of Texas.
- Ability to obtain a Texas Antiquities Permit.
- Regional experience in historic and/or prehistoric archaeology (Texas Oklahoma Louisiana).
- Proven supervisory experience in Phase I-III fieldwork.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Experience working with Federal Agencies and Tribal Nations.
- Valid drivers license.
- Writing sample from thesis dissertation or archaeological report required.
- Must provide at least 3 professional references.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Registered Professional Archaeologist or the ability to become registered.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD MicroStation ArcGIS Pro Field Maps Google Earth ArcMap or other GIS software.
- Significant lab and curation experience.
- Experience in obtaining a Texas Antiquities Permit.
