Schedule: 36 hours/week night shifts; must have open availability including weekends and holidays

Job Overview:
This is a full-time contract assignment in a correctional healthcare environment. The Registered Nurse (RN) provides direct and supervisory nursing care for incarcerated individuals ensuring safe effective and compassionate treatment within a secure facility. The role requires strong clinical judgment adaptability and a commitment to maintaining both patient care standards and correctional security.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive nursing care in accordance with state licensure and correctional healthcare policies.
- Assist providers during examinations treatments and sick call visits.
- Dispense administer and document medication distribution including pill call.
- Perform patient assessments triage illnesses and injuries and coordinate referrals to higher-level care when necessary.
- Supervise and support LVN/LPN staff and unlicensed medical personnel.
- Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in compliance with standards.
- Monitor inmate hospitalizations and assist with early releases as directed.
- Respond to medical emergencies and perform rescue functions in crises or disasters.
- Conduct safety checks of medical units and secure medical supplies.
- Provide health counseling and education to inmates/residents as required.
Requirements:
- Must reside more than 70 miles from the facility (no local applicants).
- Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience.
- Active unrestricted New Mexico RN license.
- Active BLS certification (AHA preferred).
- Must be able to start within 2 weeks of offer.
- Open availability; no RTO or scheduling restrictions allowed.
- Must not have worked at the same facility in the past 6 months.
- Must not be on any industry DNU list.
- U.S. Citizenship and Social Security card required for facility clearance.
Preferred:
- Prior correctional or behavioral health nursing experience.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress secure environments.
