About the Company
My client is an EU-licensed E-Money and Payment Services provider offering innovative technology-driven financial solutions. Supporting both individual and corporate clients the company is focused on building seamless and secure services in a fast-growing and dynamic environment.

We are seeking a head of risk to take ownership of the institutions risk framework and ensure effective management of regulatory and operational risks across the business. This is an opportunity to join at a pivotal stage of growth and make a direct impact on the companys future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and maintain a robust risk management framework ensuring alignment with EU regulatory requirements.
  • Foster a culture of risk awareness and accountability across all business units.
  • Identify assess and monitor operational financial and compliance risks implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Manage risk registers compliance obligations and risk assessments in line with licence requirements.
  • Provide clear data-driven risk reports and insights to senior leadership and the Board.
  • Review and enhance internal policies ensuring they remain up to date with regulatory developments.
  • Lead business continuity and disaster recovery planning ensuring resilience across operations.
  • Monitor fraud indicators and suspicious activities strengthening preventative controls.
  • Manage outsourcing and third-party risk frameworks including vendor performance monitoring.
  • Support coach and develop team members in building strong risk and compliance practices.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years hands-on experience in risk management ideally within payments or financial services.
  • Recognised risk management certification.
  • Previous interaction with regulatory authorities (MFSA or equivalent); PQ approval considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of compliance standards and industry best practices.
  • Excellent analytical communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken).
  • Proficient with MS Office tools; detail-oriented and highly organised.
