About the Company

We are seeking a head of risk to take ownership of the institutions risk framework and ensure effective management of regulatory and operational risks across the business. This is an opportunity to join at a pivotal stage of growth and make a direct impact on the companys future.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and maintain a robust risk management framework ensuring alignment with EU regulatory requirements.
- Foster a culture of risk awareness and accountability across all business units.
- Identify assess and monitor operational financial and compliance risks implementing appropriate mitigation strategies.
- Manage risk registers compliance obligations and risk assessments in line with licence requirements.
- Provide clear data-driven risk reports and insights to senior leadership and the Board.
- Review and enhance internal policies ensuring they remain up to date with regulatory developments.
- Lead business continuity and disaster recovery planning ensuring resilience across operations.
- Monitor fraud indicators and suspicious activities strengthening preventative controls.
- Manage outsourcing and third-party risk frameworks including vendor performance monitoring.
- Support coach and develop team members in building strong risk and compliance practices.
Requirements
- At least 5 years hands-on experience in risk management ideally within payments or financial services.
- Recognised risk management certification.
- Previous interaction with regulatory authorities (MFSA or equivalent); PQ approval considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of compliance standards and industry best practices.
- Excellent analytical communication and problem-solving skills.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
- Proficient with MS Office tools; detail-oriented and highly organised.
