RRC is seeking a talented Substation Engineer to help us build the future of U.S. energy production from our U.S office. RRC is a multi-disciplinary engineering firm that specializes in energy projects particularly renewable energy throughout the United States. Essential Responsibilities
- Provides team leadership for (discipline)
- Evaluating resource availability and actively engaging the design manager with team status.
- Technical mentorship to resources performing (discipline) design
- Facilitates technical growth of drafters and junior designers
- Supports team innovation and process automation
- Ensures team quality expectations are understood and followed
- Manages small and minimally complex projects with the support of other disciplines engineers and project managers.
- Small Definition - <$150k (approx.)
- Minimally Complex Definition Substation only disciplines (P&C physical and civil/structural) or retrofit projects (i.e. a utility transformer and/or breaker replacement project)
- Performs design and operates CAD as required to support meeting project requirements.
- Ideally the majority of CAD work will be performed by junior designers and drafters but the lead designer still needs to be able to operate CAD effectively.
- Performs technical QA/QC of others designs
- Supports input into proposals (man-hours estimates and scheduling)
Desired Skills
- Understand substation equipment and design processes
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop and implement standards and structured programs
- Field experience
- 3D Modeling experience a plus
- Substation Design Suite (SDS/Inventor) experience a plus
- AutoCAD Inventor Experience a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to lead and be part of a project team
- Sitting Walking Standing and lift up to 15lb
