Job Summary
The Accounting Specialist will play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring the integrity of accounting processes. This position requires a solid understanding of accounting principles construction cost tracking and strong analytical skills. You will assist with day-to-day accounting activities daily cash reconciliation monthly close processes job costing and compliance reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and post journal entries and general ledger reconciliations
- Lead the monthly and year-end close process
- Maintain and reconcile job cost reports and construction project budgets
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
- Review subcontractor billings and lien waivers for accuracy and compliance
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements
- Track fixed assets and depreciation schedules
- Assist with preparing financial statements and reports
- Support annual audits and compliance reporting (e.g. W-9s 1099s insurance certificates)
- Maintain documentation for accounting policies and procedures
- Collaborate with project managers and the operations team to ensure financial accuracy on construction projects
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or related field
- 2 years of experience in accounting; construction industry experience preferred
- Working knowledge of GAAP and job costing
- Proficiency with accounting software (e.g. Sage 300 CRE QuickBooks or Viewpoint)
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables VLOOKUPs etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications - Experience with construction contract types (lump sum T&M GMP)
- Familiarity with AIA billing and construction compliance documents
