Job Description

Position Summary:
- Conducts archaeological field work with the ability to identify artifacts and determine the presence of archaeological sites
- Collects data and field samples during archaeological investigations
- Analyzes historic and pre-historic artifacts and features
- Documenting methodologies and findings of research and archaeological investigations
- Reviews and writes portions of archaeological reports and prepares archaeological site forms
- Assists in making decisions about project alternatives and the resolution of adverse effects to archaeological resources
- Works with technical field lab and office staff managers (Senior Archaeologist/Section Head) and administrative staff to ensure that projects meet JMT and professional quality standards
- May help with business development through assisting in the preparation of proposals budgets and other marketing materials
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word and Excel
- Masters Degree from an accredited school in anthropology or a closely related field
- Must meet the Secretary of the Interiors Qualification Standards for Archaeologists
- 5 years of experience(CRM experience preferred)
- At least 3 of those years need to involve leadership positions
- Familiarity with Section 106 of the National Heritage Preservation Act and with the Antiquities Code of Texas
- Ability to obtain a Texas Antiquities Permit
- Regional (Texas/Oklahoma/Louisiana) experience in historic and/or prehistoric archaeology
- Demonstrated skills and supervisory experience in Phase I-III fieldwork
- Must be able to provide a writing sample from either a thesis dissertation or archaeological report
- Must possess a valid drivers license
- Experience with Federal Agencies and Tribal Nations.
