Job Summary:
This role is for a Cardiovascular Operating Room Technician (CVOR Tech) responsible for providing technical support during cardiovascular surgical procedures. The technician will assist surgeons and other medical professionals in a fast-paced environment handling equipment instruments and supplies. The position requires proficiency in surgical techniques and a strong understanding of cardiovascular surgery. The work involves both elective and emergency surgeries for adult and pediatric patients.

Responsibilities:
- Preparing the operating room and ensuring it is sterile and equipped for the procedure.
- Assisting the surgical team with the setup and maintenance of surgical equipment and instruments.
- Handling and managing surgical supplies and materials.
- Preparing patients for surgery including monitoring vital signs and assisting with positioning.
- Assisting the surgeon with surgical procedures including passing instruments retracting tissues and managing suction.
- Maintaining a sterile field and adhering to strict infection control protocols.
- Cleaning and sterilizing surgical instruments and equipment after procedures.
- Documenting procedures and maintaining accurate records.
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education programs.
Required Skills & Certifications:
- Completion of an accredited surgical technology program.
- Current certification as a Cardiovascular Operating Room Technician (or equivalent).
- Proficiency in surgical techniques and instrumentation.
- Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced high-pressure environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Current BLS certification.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Experience in a cardiovascular operating room setting.
- Experience with pediatric cardiovascular surgery.
- Advanced certifications in surgical technology.
Special Considerations:
- On-call responsibilities include one call per week and one weekend per month.
- The facility has 23 operating rooms and 1 procedure room.
- The position involves working with both adult and pediatric patients.
- Must live within 75 miles of the facility. First-time travelers are accepted.
Scheduling:
- Three 12-hour shifts per week 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
