Job Description

Job Title: Assistant Manager : Credit Control

Department: Finance / Accounts / Credit Control
Location: Airoli Navi Mumbai
Reports To: Director Finance / General Manager Finance

Job Summary:

The Credit Manager is responsible for overseeing the credit granting process for the organization. This includes assessing the creditworthiness of potential customers periodic review of existing customers optimizing company sales while ensuring minimal risk and managing the collection of payments to ensure timely cash flows.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate creditworthiness of new and existing customers using financial statements credit reports and industry data.
  • Set credit limits based on internal risk policy and external credit data.
  • Monitor customer account details for non-payments delayed payments and other irregularities.
  • Develop and implement credit policies and procedures to reduce credit risk.
  • Coordinate with the sales team to support business growth while maintaining credit discipline.
  • Lead the collection efforts and ensure overdue receivables are followed up effectively.
  • Review aging reports and take appropriate actions to minimize bad debts.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legal regulatory and corporate requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of credit approvals collections and customer communications.
  • Collaborate with external agencies (like credit rating agencies) when needed.
  • Prepare monthly reports on credit performance and present to management.
  • Train and mentor junior credit staff if applicable.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of financial analysis credit rating systems and risk assessment.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficient ERP systems.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Finance Accounting Economics or a related field.
  • MBA/ Inter CA/CMA or other professional qualification (preferred).
  • 5 8 years of experience in credit control credit analysis or risk management.
  • Experience in Retail / FMCG / manufacturing is an advantage.
