The Specialty Drug Integration Pharmacist (SDIP) will work collaboratively with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure that primary health system distribution customers have appropriate access to limited distribution drugs (LDDs). This role operates in a complex and critical environment requiring deep expertise in specialty drugs used to treat a multitude of disease states and in the different settings of care within an integrated health system. The SDIP will partner with key internal stakeholders to ensure alignment between the types of patients treated by the health system and the structure of the health system and the criteria established by biopharmaceutical manufacturers for which types of McKesson customers can purchase those drugs. The SDIP will leverage their deep expertise in specialty pharmacotherapeutics and the medication use process to partner with internal stakeholders to solve high-impact problems anticipate change and redirect efforts to meet evolving business and health system customer and patient care needs. These activities will directly contribute to key McKesson Health Systems (MHS) business objectives that optimize McKesson Plasma and Biologics (MPB) capture and maximize MPB growth.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Engagement: Work with primary health system customers the associated internal teams (e.g. MHS Field and MPB Internal Sales Teams US Pharma Distribution Services Team MPB Sales Operations and Effectiveness Team) and various analytical tools to understand customers structure patient populations treated and LDD drug needs to ensure appropriate access to limited distribution drugs based on criteria established by biopharmaceutical manufacturers.
Internal Collaboration and Process Improvement: Analyze and partner across internal teams (e.g. MPB Sales and Operations Effectiveness Team US Pharma Distribution Services Team MHS National Accounts the MHS Field and MPB Inside Sales Teams McKesson Technology and other internal stakeholders) to use people process and/or technology to address friction points that interfere with MHS ability to strategically capture LDD sales from its primary customer base.
Clinical & Strategic Expertise: Provide authoritative guidance on specialty pharmacotherapeutics (including pipeline therapies) and the use of specialty drugs in a health system setting. Contribute to the development of new methods and approaches that inform innovation in areas such as Precision Intelligence and MHS Full Lifecycle Enablement.
Value Measurement & Impact Tracking: Contribute to the ongoing measurement of value driven through strategic capture and re-capture activities that optimize MPB capture and maximize MPB growth (this will be done in conjunction with Business Intelligence and the Financial Planning and Analysis teams).
Market Intelligence & Thought Leadership: Maintain deep awareness of clinical regulatory and market trends in specialty pharmacy and specialty drug use in health system settings. Translate insights into strategic recommendations and identify emerging risks and opportunities.
Other: Lead or support initiatives pilots or special projects.
Minimum Requirement
Degree or equivalent and typically requires 7 years of relevant experience.
Education/Certifications
Licensed pharmacist with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree preferred
Board Certification (e.g. CSP BCOP) is preferred.
Critical Skills
7 years of relevant experience in specialty pharmacy required. Experience in health-system specialty pharmacy is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to lead in complex cross-functional environments and influence without authority.
Strong analytical communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Deep understanding of the pharmaceutical ecosystem including LDD dynamics and health system operations.
Proven ability to anticipate change redirect efforts and develop creative solutions to complex problems.
Comfortable navigating ambiguity and shifting priorities in a fast-paced high-impact setting.
Working Conditions
Remote-based position with standard office environment requirements.
Must be able to meet general office demands including prolonged screen time and virtual collaboration.
Requires up to 30% travel to customer sites company meetings and/or professional/industry meetings.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKessons pay philosophy and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations.
