Advanced Apprentice Youth worker

Working 36.5 hours per week

Internal Job Opportunity: Advanced Apprentice Youth Worker

Location:Various sites across Birmingham
Division:Children and Families Youth Service
Fixed Term 3 years (linked to apprenticeship duration)

About the Role

As an Apprentice Youth Worker you will:

  • Support the Senior Youth Worker in developing and delivering youth work projects and programmes.
  • Work directly with young people in a variety of settings including centre-based detached outreach and project-based work.
  • Help ensure young people are actively involved in shaping the services they use.
  • Contribute to the strategic development of youth services in line with council priorities.
  • Dedicate 20% of your working week to completing theBA (Hons) Youth Work Degree Apprenticeshipthrough Captiva Learn.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging activities and events for young people.
  • Manage youth support workers and contribute to project planning and evaluation.
  • Build effective partnerships with external agencies.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to performance monitoring.
  • Support the day-to-day management of youth service buildings.

What Were Looking For

  • Experience working with young people particularly in youth work settings.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours and build positive relationships.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings weekends and bank holidays.

Essential Requirements

  • Commitment to completing the Youth Work Degree Apprenticeship.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance.
  • A passion for youth work and a desire to grow professionally.
