Position Summary:
The Associate Director of Residence Education is responsible for management of the daily operations of the Office of Residence Education supervising paraprofessional graduate professional and administrative staff. This role supports residence hall operations including student conduct safety and security and provides direct supervision to Assistant Directors responsible for Student Conduct & Care Hall Operations Training & Staff Development Residential Curriculum and Student Engagement & Leadership. The position develops and executes an annual recruitment plan for professional live-in staff plans and executes professional staff training and establishes campus partnerships to support student success in residence halls. Reports to the Director Residence Education.
Specific Job Duties & Tasks:
- Provide direct supervision training and professional development for Assistant Directors and assist in supervising Hall Coordinators Graduate Assistant Hall Coordinators Residence Education Coordinators and hall secretarial staff.
- Develop and implement an annual recruitment plan for professional live-in staff.
- Partner with the Assistant Director of Student Conduct & Care to coordinate consistent and fair judicial and care processes across campus.
- Collaborate with the Dean of Students office to enforce policies implement sanctions and prepare reports.
- Support the implementation of academic initiatives in residence halls including residential curricula and living-learning communities.
- Provide annual training and coaching on HR best practices in conjunction with Human Resources Staff and Director Residence Education.
- Coordinate review and approve evaluations and disciplinary actions for student workers office administrators and professional staff ensuring consistency across residence education.
- Collaborate with campus offices and groups on residence hall operations and student success initiatives.
- Collaborate with Assistant Director team plan and implement a comprehensive annual professional training program for Residence Education staff.
- Assist with assessment of outcomes related to student satisfaction in conjunction with the Associate Director for Strategic Initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
- Masters degree in College Student Personnel Higher Education/Administration Counseling or related field.
- A minimum of 5 years progressive post-masters experience in a university housing or residential life environment.
- Experience (3 or more years) supervising full time masters level housing staff with ability to apply practices and tools to developing and improving individual team and organizational performance.
- Exceptional administrative skills including a proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously to establish priorities accomplish goals and meet deadlines.
- Excellent problem solving skills including experience analyzing and resolving conflict successfully navigating group dynamics and effectively building teams.
- Knowledge of crisis management concepts and techniques; ability to predict avert mitigate and recover from an event that has or could have a severely negative impact on the institution. Experience serving in an on-call duty rotation.
- Strong record of building teams and partnerships with colleagues and key campus stakeholder groups.
- Excellent written and oral communication public speaking and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to developing welcoming communities through dialogues around difference.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience managing and leading full-time staff recruitment.
- Previous experience supervising mid-level staff.
- Experience working with residential curriculum models academic curriculum development or other student outcome based curricular planning.
- Experience working with Maxient conduct software.
- Experience working with StarRez housing occupancy software.
