6 months (minimum for non-thesis) up to 9 months
Description of role
To tackle the problem of cross-sensitivity in gas sensors you will design new Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs). These are porous crystalline materials with an outstanding selectivity for gas adsorption. Majority of current methodologies focus on synthesizing these materials as powder but these are difficult to integrate with a transducer device. Your challenge is to develop thin-film metal-organic frameworks that can seamlessly be integrated over such semiconductor devices.
Your role:
Your work will consist of the following work packages:
MOF selection for sensing application (a pre-selection is already made for initial start) Procedure development for thin films (using custom in-house equipment) Characterization of thin-film MOFs for structural and property integrity MOF-transducer integration Potentially gas sensing studies
Deliverables:
Material: List of successfully integrated materials with transducers Standard operating procedures for developing these materials as thin films Documentation: A report on the performed work and associated results
Youre the right fit if:
Masters student in the field of Chemistry Chemical Engineering or material science
Skilled with literature study experimental design lab work and data analysis.
Experience in chemical R&D environment and affinity towards multidisciplinary research.
Familiarity with material characterization and data processing techniques.
Proficient in scientific writing and reporting.
How we work together
We believe that we are better together than apart. The Lab work will require full-time presence in our facilities at the High Tech Campus in Eindhoven (NL).
Monthly full-time allowance between 500 - 700 gross depending on educational level and if you would need to relocate to The Netherlands. If you will perform a part-time internship you will receive the allowance pro-rata.
Housing compensation in case of relocating to the vicinity of the office 300- net if location is in the vicinity of Amsterdam 255- net for all other Philips locations. You need to provide a rental contract of the land lord and your normal home-work travel distance need to be more than 50 km or travel time (one way trip) need to be more than 1.5 hours.
Travel compensation if you are not eligible for a free public transport card; you will receive max. 192- net
Paid holidays per internship term.
