Job Description

Position Title: Supplier Quality Engineer (Aerospace Defense PWBA/CCA)

Department: Quality

Location: Santa Ana CA

FLSA Status: Exempt Full-Time


Job Summary:

The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for managing and improving the quality performance of suppliers who provide materials and services for PWBA/CCA production. The SQE will ensure suppliers meet all regulatory contractual and internal quality requirements and drive corrective and preventive actions to mitigate risk. This role is critical in supporting the companys quality assurance initiatives and compliance with industry standards such as IPC-A-610 J-STD-001 AS9100 and AS9102.


Key Responsibilities:

Develop and manage supplier quality strategies aligned with company and customer requirements.

Conduct supplier audits qualification assessments and process evaluations.

Review and approve AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs).

Evaluate supplier capabilities and perform on-site assessments for PWBA/CCA processes

Lead and support Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) and Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) activities.

Participate in PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) development and review.

Ensure supplier adherence to IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies) and J-STD-001 (Requirements for Soldered Electrical and Electronic Assemblies).

Manage supplier scorecards and performance metrics (PPM OTD SCARs).

Interface with internal teams (Engineering Supply Chain Production Quality) to resolve quality issues.

Drive continuous improvement and lean quality practices within the supplier base.

Ensure compliance with applicable standards including AS9100D ITAR DFARS and customer-specific requirements.

Lead Material Review Board (MRB) activities involving supplier-related nonconformances.

Support internal and external audits (e.g. customer regulatory and certification bodies).

Assist with companywide tasks.


Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Engineering Quality or related technical discipline.

5 years of experience in supplier quality engineering within the aerospace defense or space industry.

Strong working knowledge of IPC-A-610 J-STD-001 AS9102 AS9100 and ISO 9001 standards.

Demonstrated experience with FAI (First Article Inspection) PFMEA Control Plans CAPA and RCCA.


Preferred Qualifications:

Certification in quality systems (CQE CQA ASQ or equivalent).

Experience with ITAR NADCAP and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulations (DFARS).

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.

Experience working with CM/EMS environments for aerospace/defense customers.


Physical Requirements:

Ability to sit stand walk reach with hands and arms and use hands to operate standard office and inspection equipment.

Occasionally required to stoop kneel crouch or crawl.

Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds occasionally.

Must be able to work in environments that include manufacturing floors clean rooms and test labs with occasional exposure to machinery or moving parts.
