Sustainability SpecialistPosition Overview
A Sustainability Specialist I plays an important role in advancing Shaws sustainability efforts which encompasses wellbeing carbon impact and end-of-life solutions. This role supports Shaws efforts to ensure sustainable practices across the value chain and communicates the sustainable aspects of our products. They participate in the collection management and application of product ingredient information and Shaws reclamation efforts. They also serve as a key communicator- engaging with internal stakeholders and customers through written and verbal channels to support Shaws sustainability goals and initiatives.
Responsibilities:
A Sustainability Specialist I strongly supports the Product Sustainability Managers (PSMs) and actively contributes to Shaws material health strategy and certification efforts. This role involves process and product ingredient related activities across all Shaws business units and all parts of Shaws value chain from suppliers to marketing and sales to directly responding to customer product inquiries. The specific responsibilities include:
Manage and oversee chemical approval workflow system. Organize and manage product and raw material chemical information provided by Shaw vendors. As directed by PSMs work with product technical groups and Corporate Sourcing on vendor data acquisition.
Manage product Bills of Materials and other related information to support certification efforts especially Cradle to Cradle (C2C).
Manage and oversee the Sustainability inbox including responding to sales and customer inquiries regarding product composition and other sustainability related topics.
Become knowledgeable on all product transparency and disclosure programs that Shaw is part of including Environmental Product Declarations Health Product Declarations and Declare.
Assist in development of product related sustainability documentation and training tools for Shaw Sales Marketing and Customer Services groups to include tracking and compiling related sustainability information of competitors and their products.
Assist in development and management of product LCA and EPD documents to include gathering process data from manufacturing plants.
Manage and maintain sustainability related files and folders in shared drives SharePoint and other storage locations.
Manage and oversee responses for Reclamation inbox reTURN hotline and requests
Support and assist in project management of Shaws reTURN reclamation program to including but not limited to project intake proposal generation and distribution logistic coordination with eternal carriers reclamation customers landfill diversion vendors and internal partners. Reclamation certificate creation and distribution bill processes and documentation to ensure complete project tracking and reporting.
Partner with Reclamation manager to initiate and execute reTURN reclamation program process improvement projects focused on operational efficiencies and enhancing customer experience.
Support and assist in Shaws Energy and Carbon strategies accounting and reporting needs to include any data collection analytics and reporting as needed.
Position Requirements:
4-year degree (engineering technical or scientific field preferred) OR equivalent experience in product focused technical roles.
Demonstrated project management data management and organizational skills.
Ability to perform analytical tasks independently and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences in a variety of formats (written on-line presentations in person).
Apply good judgment in managing confidential business information.
Availability for local travel as required with limited overnight travel when necessary.
Strong computer literacy especially MS Office and M365 collaboration tools. Shaw system knowledge (e.g. G-Link TTR Salesforce ePRO) preferred.
Plan write edit and proof a variety of written materials for presentations technical papers and newsletters.
