The Department of Business is seeking a qualified Teaching Assistant (TA) to support enrolled
students in courses that focus on business development and startup projects. The TA will
provide instructional support under faculty supervision assist in guiding students activities and
through the entrepreneurial process and contribute to fostering an engaging and supportive
learning environment.
This position is designed for an advanced student who has demonstrated interest and
experience in entrepreneurship preferably through the development of their own startup
project. The successful candidate will possess familiarity with the startup ecosystem and the
ability to mentor peers in applying course concepts to real-world projects. This is a Non-Exempt
part-time in-person position located in Fremont CA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist faculty in supporting student teams with startup projects throughout the semester.
- Provide structured guidance on business ideation market research business model development and pitch preparation.
- Offer peer-level mentorship by drawing from personal entrepreneurial experience.
- Review student assignments project deliverables and presentations and provide constructive feedback.
- Support classroom activities breakout sessions pitch presentations and workshops as assigned.
- Assist in the coordination of guest lectures mentorship panels and startup-related events.
- Maintain communication between faculty mentors and students regarding project progress and support needs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Advanced undergraduate or graduate student in Business Entrepreneurship or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated entrepreneurial experience (e.g. actively developing or having previously launched a startup project).
- Familiarity with the startup ecosystem including incubators accelerators funding sources and competitions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to commit to 10 hours per week during the academic term.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with entrepreneurial frameworks such as lean startup methodology design thinking or the business model canvas.
- Prior experience mentoring tutoring or assisting peers in an academic or professional setting.
- Demonstrated knowledge of pitching fundraising or go-to-market strategies.
Salary Range: $18-$22 per hour depending on experience.
