INTRODUCTION:
New Path Youth and Family Services is an accredited childrens mental health agency providing a range of compassionate innovative and accessible services for children youth and their families throughout Simcoe County. New Path respectfully acknowledges we are situated on the traditional land of the Anishinaabeg people which includes the Odawa Ojibwe and Pottawatomi Nations collectively known as the Three Fires Confederacy.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Ensure an effective intake process for those seeking information and services from New Path Youth and Family Services. The Intake Worker determines eligibility for service and make recommendations based on the presenting concerns through self-referrals or established warm transfer protocols between partnering agencies. This position also provides case management facilitation of groups evidence based/informed counselling in the Quick Access Child and Youth Mental Health Clinic and through Brief Services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor of Social Work (B.S.W.)
- Minimum 2 years experience working with children youth and their families in a childrens mental health or related service.
- Experience delivering solution focused single session counselling.
- Experience working with evidence based/informed programs.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Youth and family focused; provides client and family centered approach to care.
- Meaningfully engages youth and families and collaborates to facilitate positive change.
- Aligns own behavior with the values needs priorities and goals of the organization.
- Takes personal responsibility for enhancing individual and team performance by promoting cooperation and commitment.
- Demonstrates strong engagement skills using a strengths-based approach and partners with client/family in treatment planning goal setting and anticipated outcomes.
- Recognizes initiates and adapts to changing conditions and situations in the workplace.
- Demonstrates awareness for the backgrounds values beliefs and traditions of staff clients families and communities we serve.
- Continuously assesses and challenges assumptions personal unconscious bias and commits to understanding diverse perspectives experiences and their intersectionality.
- Commits to ongoing training to build the knowledge awareness and skills that contribute to a creating a culturally safe environment for staff clients and families.
- Competency and effective use of database and Microsoft Office systems.
- Confident articulate and professional when communicating verbally and in writing.
- French language is an asset.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The promotion of self-care and staff well-being is part of our everyday culture. We value peoples time both at work and home. We know that when staff feel safe find their work meaningful and are appreciated by the agency then we achieve optimal outcomes for our clients and families.
- Must be available to provide 4 hours per week of direct service to clients after 5pm (evening appointments) to accommodate client and family schedules.
- This position is primarily performed in office/on-site to support the in-person meeting preferences of our clients and families. Some administrative tasks (non-client facing work) can be requested to be completed remotely (Work From Home).
- Willingness to travel to other agency offices and community using personal vehicle. Must have valid drivers license with minimum G2.
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
