About Us
Steeles Transportation Group (Steeles) specializes in providing scheduled LTL Freight in Alberta and local pick up and delivery from our terminal hubs located in Calgary and Edmonton. Steeles has a strong reputation for our service which we have been building since 1957 when the company was founded by Eric and Kathleen Steele.
Dennis Steele who joined the family business in 1987 leads and operates Steeles as a business partnership under FMi Logistics Group Inc.
Steeles is an asset-based business which utilizes a fleet of dedicated equipment which are company owned assets and owner-operator owned equipment working as sub-contractors along with carrier partners to provide safe timely and competitive freight delivery services throughout Alberta. Our main area of service occurs in the busy corridor between Calgary Red Deer Edmonton and we do have staff and / or drivers based in each one of these major cities.

Job Summary:
At Steeles Transportation Group we provide critical transportation and logistics services to our clients 24 hours a day 365 days a year. We are looking for an experienced City P&D fleet dispatcher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience dispatching courier straight truck and tractor trailer vehicles and drivers as well as knowledge of the local area and roads. The Dispatcher will be responsible for coordinating the pick-up and delivery of shipments in a timely and efficient manner and reporting on related key performance indicators. The dispatcher will also be responsible for communicating with our drivers clients and other members of the team to ensure that everyone is up to date on the status of shipments.
Ideally we would like the City P&D dispatcher to have 3-5 years of experience in dispatching. You will also be proficient in using Microsoft Office 365 in particular Outlook Excel and MS Teams and Rose Rocket TMS.
Success as a dispatcher will be achieved when you are a strong planner who is organized and has a strong attention to detail. You will be able to communicate clearly and professionally with your team in office workers and drivers. You will also be able to adjust your plans frequently during the day depending on the requirements of our customers. You will have the ability to build positive inter-company relationships and rapport. You will also have some understanding around freight rates and how they apply in this industry. You will have experience in customer service and willing to help out the customer service team when they need support or coverage too.
Growth opportunities may include Dispatch team lead management roles in operations Fleet and Safety related roles.
