JOB GOAL:The Social Studies Coordinator works with school and district administration and teachers in the Social Studies Department to ensure students have access to rigorous and relevant coursework and instructional materials aligned to state standards to successfully prepare them for advanced learning at the high school. QUALIFICATIONS:Valid Rhode Island certification as a middle school Social Studies years of successful middle school Social Studies teaching experience. Demonstrated knowledge of Social Studies program requirements as evidenced by advanced degree course work training and/or professional exceptions to the above as may be acceptable to the SuperintendentPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Prior experience as a teacher leader (i.e. coach mentor serving on SIT etc).Demonstrated success in working collaboratively with teachers administrators industry and community partners students and and expertise in program development data collection and analysis program evaluation and oral and written communication skills and technology RESPONSIBILITIES:Facilitate the integrity of instruction of Social Studies core the delivery and analysis of common unit assessment alignment of new Social Studies standards with middle school with school and district leaders and Social Studies teachers to Identify areas of program improvement and support/monitor progress of improvement and support team professional as a member of the school leadership other related work as required by the OF EMPLOYMENT: 2 Year AppointmentWill complete an estimated 40 hours per year for hours required beyond the contractual day to be submitted on time sheet. Schedule to be determined in collaboration with the School Principal. Compensation $3000 per year for successful completion of job responsibilities. Stipend will be paid in 2 installments December/June.
