Degree in Health Promotion Public Health Community Nutrition Food Sciences Family & Consumer Sciences Food and Nutrition Dietetics Education or closely related discipline.

Experience that demonstrates understanding and application of effective learning strategies.

Demonstrated training or experience with food nutrition and health principles.

Experience developing implementing delivering and evaluating food and health programs.

If so Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is seeking a Health and Human Sciences Educator to join our Food & Health team supporting communities in north central Iowa! This position will be classified as a Human Sciences Extension Specialist II.

What Youll Do:

  • Deliver food and nutrition programs both in-person and virtually.

  • Develop and adapt nutrition education using innovative methods.

  • Co-develop new nutrition programs and may mentor new staff in program delivery.

  • Lead and co-develop interdisciplinary nutrition programs with state specialists.

  • Support program rollout and may present at national conferences.

  • Provide professional development on nutrition topics for county and community partners.

  • Lead planning and marketing of nutrition programs across counties and states.

  • Help secure funding and resources for nutrition initiatives.

  • Provide technical support to staff and lead community nutrition partnerships.

  • Share program impact through public presentations and community engagement.

  • Serve as a local nutrition subject matter expert.

  • Build and maintain coalitions focused on food and health in multiple counties.

  • Represent Health and Human Sciences Extension and Outreach in community boards and coalitions related to nutrition and wellness

  • Conduct needs assessments and evaluate nutrition program outcomes.

  • Use data tools to plan and report on food and nutrition programming.

  • Ensure timely reporting and compliance with evaluation and fiscal procedures.

The north central Iowa region includes Cerro Gordo Clay Dickinson Emmet Floyd Franklin Hancock Kossuth Mitchell Palo Alto Winnebago Worth and Wright counties. The primary office location for this position will be an extension office in the state of Iowa and the location will be dependent on the successful candidate and office availability. Travel will be required in this position.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship. Immigration sponsorship is not available for this position.

About Health and Human Sciences Extension and Outreach:

Health and Human Sciences Extension and Outreach providesresearch-based information and education to help families make decisions that improve their lives. As the outreach arm of the College of Health and HumanSciences faculty and staff work together with specialists located across Iowas 99 counties to translate university research to practicefor localindividuals families employers and communities.
