Description

In an environment of continuous quality improvement under direct supervision of sleep technologist the Sleep Technician develops competency in and performs basic sleep testing procedures and associated interventions. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.

Job Functions:

  1. Performs sleep study modalities and implements therapeutic interventions with the guidance of a sleep technologist.
  2. Provides basic sleep modalities to adults (CPAP BiPAP EKGs pulse oximetry and oxygen therapy)
  3. Participates in patient education
  4. Provides a safe environment for patients
  5. Participates and helps improve all quality initiatives.
  6. Demonstrates effective written and spoken communication skills.
  7. Maintains compliance in RQI required.
  8. Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Experience Required:

  • Successful completion of a state-licensed and/or nationally accredited sleep technology program; or current licensure by the state of Ohio as an LPN; or certification as a medical assistant with a minimum of two years of experience is required.
  • Become a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist within 2 years of hire required.
  • BLS certification required.

Special Knowledge Skills Training:

  • Possess good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to deal tactfully and harmoniously with guests physicians and co-workers.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide age specific care in the treatment assessment and education of patients served in the sleep lab.

Compensation Details: Education experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
