Senior Data Platform Architect- Automotive Business
Data Factory is the central data engine of SKF Automotive Organization. We own and manage data platforms and the entire data engineering lifecycle powering a self-service data platform and delivering end-to-end data services. We ensure the data ecosystems reliability and enable business units to use data effectively and confidently.
SKF Automotives Data Factory department is seeking a Senior Data Platform Architect to define the future of our data factory this pivotal role you will be a principal architect and builder of the foundational technology & platform that underpins our entire Data Factory operations. You will be responsible for creating the architectural blueprint and technology roadmap that will guide our evolution. By proactively partnering with Data Product Managers & Data Domain Leads you ensure our data platform is not only powerful and scalable today but is also prepared for the challenges and opportunities of tomorrow.
This is a role for a strategic thinker and influential leader who can design cohesive secure and cost-effective data platform architecture. You will be the technical north star for our data engineering teams empowering them to build with clarity consistency and a shared understanding of our long-term goals.
You will also oversee the daily management of IT systems and applications within the scope of your role ensuring efficiency effectiveness and the adoption of best-in-class solutions.

Responsibilities
- Shape the Strategic Roadmap: Act as the key technical advisor and strategic partner in Data Factory. You will contribute your deep architectural expertise to help shape the architectural blueprint for the data factory and then take the lead in developing the comprehensive technical roadmap required to bring that shared vision to life.
- Execute & Deliver the Roadmap: Lead the implementation of the platforms architectural roadmap. You will provide senior technical guidance and oversight into the core components to ensure successful delivery.
- Lead Technology Evaluation: Lead the research evaluation and selection of new data technologies frameworks and vendor partnerships to ensure our platform remains modern efficient and cost-effective.
- Implement Security and Governance Standards: Collaborate with Cloud security engineers Cybersecurity Architects Data Governance experts and architects to implement architectural principles data modeling standards and engineering best practices that all data teams will follow to ensure quality and consistency.
- Self Service Data Platform: Lead the architectural design of our self-service data platform capabilities. You will strategize and create the core frameworks (e.g. for data quality monitoring and ingestion) that enable our teams to declaratively configure and launch entire data pipelines ensuring consistency best practices etc.
- DevSecOps : Lead the architectural integration of DevSecOps practices (Shift Left security). You will be responsible for designing how security controls threat modeling and automated testing are woven into our DevOps process CI/CD pipelines and engineering workflows.
- Technical Leadership: Build and lead a community of practice by launching and facilitating regular knowledge share sessions. This will be the central hub for data engineers to learn about new platform developments & features to solve problems together and share knowledge. You will be instrumental in nurturing this culture of continuous learning and collaboration.
Requirements
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science Information Systems Cloud Computing Software Engineering or a related field.
- 8 years of experience in data architecture data platform engineering or related fields with a strong focus on designing and managing end-to-end data platform solutions.
- Proven hands-on experience in our tech stack which includes Snowflake Databricks Dbt Informatica HVR etc.
- Proven expertise in Terraform scripting Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and cloud-based platforms (Azure).
- Proficiency with containerization and cloud automation tools (Docker Kubernetes Terraform or similar) is preferred along with a strong understanding of data lifecycle management and data governance best practices.
- Deep knowledge of modern architectural paradigms (e.g. Data Mesh Data Fabric Data as a Product) and the ability to judiciously apply them.
- Experience designing and implementing secure landing zones for cloud platforms.
- Proven experience in designing and implementing DevSecOps practices (e.g. SAST DAST IaC scanning dependency checking) within a cloud-native data platform.
- Familiarity with the principles of Infrastructure as Code CI/CD and DataOps and how to incorporate them into a strategic architectural plan.
- Advanced Proficiency in SQL & Python.
- Strong communication stakeholder management and leadership skills with a proven ability to balance technical nuances with strategic vision.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic fast-paced environment.
- A desire to learn and grow with an interest in learning emerging & new technologies.

This role can be located at any of SKF Automotive sites globally and the preferred locations is Gothenburg - Sweden Bangalore - India and Cajamar So Paolo - Brazil.
