Job Description

The Compensation Operations team is an HR workstream that supports Best Buys compensation strategy technology compliance and business goals to reward employees.

As the HR Operations Incentive Data Associate Manager within the Compensation Operations team you will be the subject matter expert for variable pay program reporting for new and existing plans researching issues and escalations and unlocking additional insights and data to help drive payment accuracy. This role will temporarily report into the Strategic Analytics team for onboarding purposes before moving into the HR organization.

This role is hybrid which means you will be required to work some days on-site at the Best Buy location listed on this posting and some days virtually from home or other non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team.

What youll do

  • Consult in scoping sessions and delivery meetings with business team to document new plan and plan update requirements and provide relevant risks and limitations.
  • Lead variable pay reporting efforts to support payment processing using SQL queries for new and existing incentive programs based on plan requirements.
  • Consult and coordinate with third party teams to support timely and accurate external reporting metrics.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to improve variable pay metric reports and process and create a summary to regularly update program to leadership.
  • Set up and test new incentive pilots and plans and closely monitor launches and initial payouts.
  • Investigate and resolve pay variances escalations and data discrepancies acting as a trusted resource for stakeholders across HR Finance and Business Operations.
  • Analyze compensation data to identify trends variances and areas for optimization providing actionable insights to compensation leaders and cross-functional partners.
  • Document and maintain processes and best practices to support scalable compensation operations and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Strategic Analytics team to remain up to date on source reporting systems.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the business team and Compensation team using data analytics to challenge assumptions identify opportunities and drive strategic initiatives.

Basic qualifications

  • 3 or more years experience in retail analytics business or related area
  • 3 or more years experience applying analytical techniques to answer business questions or scientific questions
  • 3 or more years experience leveraging data analysis and visualization tools such as SQL Tableau/Power BI R and/or Python
  • 3 or more years of experience compiling analyzing and organizing information
  • 3 or more years of experience presenting insights to leaders and storytelling with data

Preferred qualifications

  • Demonstrated success collaborating/influencing cross functional business teams/decisions
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to translate complex data into impactful business insights.
  • Advanced stakeholder management and relationship building skills with the ability to build consensus and drive cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong project management skills capable of balancing multiple priorities and delivering high-quality results on time.
  • 1 or more years experience influencing and presenting to all levels of the organization
  • Bachelors degree in Statistics Mathematics Economics Engineering Physical Sciences Computer Science Marketing Business or similar field with quantitative rigor
