OCI Architect
Contract Type: Long-term
Work Schedule: 4 days/week onsite
Location: Richmond VA (Onsite preferred; nearby candidates strongly considered)
Overview:
Were seeking a seasoned Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Architect to lead the design implementation and optimization of OCI environments for a major government client. Youll collaborate with agencies managed service providers and internal teams to ensure secure scalable and compliant cloud solutions aligned with OCI best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect and optimize OCI landing zones and workloads (IAM network compute storage database monitoring).
- Conduct architecture and security reviews; document risks and recommendations.
- Champion OCI well-architected principles across reliability performance cost security and operations.
- Align cloud architecture with business priorities and compliance requirements.
- Create design artifacts (HLD/LLD) runbooks and present solutions to technical and executive audiences.
- Lead migrations and implementations of OS/applications into OCI with full operational readiness.
- Support governance: cost management tagging guardrails policy controls and change management.
Required Qualifications
- 8 years of progressive IT experience with enterprise systems.
- 3 years of hands-on public cloud experience (OCI strongly preferred).
- Proven expertise in OCI architecture operations and cloud management.
- Experience conducting security reviews and assessing change impacts.
- Practical experience with cloud migrations and enterprise cloud operations.
- Strong knowledge of cloud networking: VCNs VPNs subnets NSGs route tables load balancers endpoints.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Oracle OCI certifications (Architect Associate/Professional Security Networking).
- Familiarity with OCI services: IAM & Policies Cloud Guard WAF Logging/Monitoring Storage Compute OKE Bastions Data Safe Database services.
- Experience with governance compliance frameworks and cost optimization.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science IT or equivalent experience.
- Operational dashboards for logging metrics alerts and cost visibility.
