Were excited to welcome a new Ecologist to join our Botany team in either our Gosford Wollongong Newcastle or Western Sydney office. This is a 12-month contract with strong potential to transition into a permanent role.
This is a junior to mid-level role for an ambitious individual eager to accelerate their career in ecology. You will work alongside experienced and highly knowledgeable colleagues who will guide and support you. Ideally you will have a tertiary qualification in Environmental Science Ecology or Botany and 1-2 years industry experience to qualify for this position.

As part of the APEM Group Biosis is a team of expert consultants specialising in Aboriginal archaeology botany environmental approvals GIS historical archaeology historical heritage and zoology. We help clients navigate pre-planning planning and post-approvals for projects across Australia primarily in the eastern states. Since 1983 we have been guiding clients in making informed decisions about ecology heritage and environmental approvals.

Key Responsibilities:
Assist in collation and analysis of ecological field data (flora fauna habitat)
Prepare equipment maps and logistics for ecological field surveys
Participate in fieldwork across diverse environments and project types
Conduct background research and summarise findings to support project planning
Contribute to the drafting and formatting of technical reports
Manage own tasks within allocated budgets and timelines
Actively participate in the timetabling process and resource bookings
Support administrative tasks linked to consulting projects (e.g. data entry document formatting)
Build awareness of team roles and internal workflows to improve coordination
To be successful in this role you will need:
Degree in Botany Ecology Environmental Science or related discipline.
Field experience in flora surveys ecological monitoring or assessments (university volunteering or consultancy).
1-2 years experience in ecological consulting bush regeneration or similar industry related experience.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
A current and valid drivers licence.
You must have the right to work in Australia to apply for this job.
