Who are we looking for

Were looking for passionate and driven Team Lead Ecology to join our Environmental Business Group in Western Australia.

As a Team Leader for close to 20 ecologists youll set direction foster collaboration and drive team success while contributing to key decision-making processes. This position will report directly to the Business Group Leader for Environmental Services and will form part of the group leadership.

Our Environmental business has maintained strong growth in recent years and is currently one of the largest groups in WA being a leader in impact assessment and approvals terrestrial ecology marine air and noise assessments services. Our diverse team contributes to a wide variety of projects with a strategic focus on renewable energy critical minerals infrastructure water and Defence at a regional national and global scale.

Working with an energetic and high performing team this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Provide day to day supervision and coaching to the Botany and zoologists in line with GHDs core values and strategy.
  • Secure schedule and manage workload for the ecology team.
  • Lead key proposals and assist with resource allocation.
  • Scheduling field surveys allocating field team members and planning requirements.
  • Undertake and lead field surveys as required.
  • Ensure the technical soundness of work produced by the team.
  • Drive the team to actively participate in the entire opportunity/proposal/delivery cycle.
  • Oversee and maintain herbarium specimens and lodgment to the WA Herbarium.
  • Timely delivery of services to meet scope quality and budget requirements. Undertake invoicing of projects.
  • Lead staff engagement and quarterly performance reviews.

What you will bring to the team:

  • Bachelor degree qualification in environmental science or ecology discipline.
  • 10 years relevant experience consulting experience as a botanist preferably within Western Australia.
  • Current drivers licence (c class) manual preferred.
  • Previous experience managing teams (typically 6-10 team members) or leading field survey teams.
  • Ability to coach support and direct team members to ensure effective client outcomes.
  • Proven experience in and a sound understanding of current environmental issues and legislation.
  • Proven experience in proposal development and project management and working as part of a wider team.
