Job Description
Angott Search Group is pleased to partner with a Michigan bank in their search for a Controller.
The Controller will oversee all accounting and external financial reporting functions for a publicly traded bank with approximately $2 billion in assets. This role is highly focused on ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP SEC reporting requirements and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) internal control standards.
The Controller will manage quarterly and annual filings maintain robust financial controls oversee the budgeting process and support investor and board reporting. This position requires deep technical expertise in public company reporting regulatory compliance and the banking industry.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance required; Masters degree or MBA preferred.
- CPA designation preferred.
- 8 years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity.
- Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP SEC reporting requirements and SOX compliance.
- Experience preparing or reviewing public company SEC filings (10-Q 10-K 8-K proxy) required.
- Banking or financial services industry experience strongly preferred; exposure to CECL (Abrigo System preferred) fair value accounting and regulatory reporting a plus.
- Experience with XBRL tagging and SEC filing software (e.g. Workiva) preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage external auditors regulators and cross-functional teams.
- Excellent technical writing analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail with the ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
