The Department of Radiation Oncology at Willis Knighton Cancer Center in Shreveport Louisiana is recruiting to fill an immediate opening for a full-time on-site Clinical Therapy Medical Physicist. This new hire will complete our team of 5 clinical medical physicists supporting a diverse array of clinical treatments including proton therapy using the United States first clinically utilized installation of IBAs ProteusONE proton therapy system linac-based stereotactic radiosurgery on an Elekta platform a busy brachytherapy practice and a recently-opened Nuclear Oncology (theranostics) Department. Additionally the selected candidate will serve as faculty within our CAMPEP-accredited medical physics residency program which is part of the first CAMPEP-accredited affiliate-model consortium. Although this position is primarily clinical all Willis Knighton physics staff have ample opportunity and departmental support to pursue both clinical research and professional development as evidenced by numerous and notable publications by members our group.
Minimum Requirements:
M.S. or Ph.D. in Medical Physics or closely related discipline
Board certified or board eligible in Therapeutic Medical Physics by the American Board of Radiology
Preferred Qualifications:
2-5 years experience post physics residency training
Experience with Elekta linear accelerators IBA proton or Accuray Radixact units
Familiarity with IMRT VMAT IGRT SRS/SBRT and HDR treatment modalities
