The West Chester Area School District has the following position available in our Facilities & Operations Department:
1.0 - Plumber #1
SUMMARY:
The Plumbing Mechanic 1 shall be responsible for overseeing providing technical training and reviewing plumbing work as assigned including contractor coordination tracking work orders and performing plumbing installation and repairs. The Plumbing Mechanic 1 shall assist with develop and oversee the preventative maintenance program for plumbing systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Complete plumbing work requests prioritize projects develop and maintain work schedule.
- Plan coordinate delegate and monitor projects for all Plumbing Systems and devices.
- Respond to daily emergencies as they arise and work on resolving them.
- Assist the Supervisor of HVAC and Plumbing Systems in developing and maintaining a preventative maintenance schedule for all plumbing equipment within the District including scheduling of inspections both internally and externally and periodic replacement of this equipment.
- Install maintain repair and/ or troubleshoot all equipment associated with plumbing to include but not limited to: overhead and underground piping bathroom fixtures and facilities manual electronic and automatic valves copper black galvanized and plastic piping drinking fountains potable and heating water equipment hot water heaters ice machines pumps etc.
- Assist in overseeing the status of any project assigned by the Supervisor of HVAC/Plumbing.
- Support Supervisor of HVAC and Plumbing to develop and budget a General Fund Project List for each year.
- Work on daily maintenance work orders or jobs as assigned.
- Manage a stock of supplies for various system components.
- Procure additional stock and supplies when necessary through the Districts purchasing process.
- Serve as subject matter expert and interface with project coordinators on capital reserve general fund and bond project design and review.
- Perform project site visits and inspections as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent necessary
- Valid PA drivers license
- Ability to read and understand blueprints plans and specifications
- Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester Certification
- Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interface diplomatically with teachers administrators caregivers and families students support staff and outside professional contacts
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Five years experience in commercial Plumbing trade
- Trade school or apprenticeship program completion
- Valid plumbing license/certification
- OSHA 10/30 certification
Qualified candidate will be required to do the following:
- Work with height utilizing ladders cranes buckets etc.
- Reach above and below the waist
- Walk and use fingers to pick feel and grasp objects
- Use both hands for repetitive motion
- Bend twist kneel stoop climb and crawl
- Lift/carry supplies weighing 70 lbs. or more
- Work in an external environment subject to temperatures below 32 degrees or above 100 degrees
- Stand or walk eighty percent (80%) of workday
- Work alone and with little supervision.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
- Reports directly to the Supervisor of HVAC and Plumbing.
- Works cooperatively with administrators supervisors staff and others to perform job responsibilities as outlined
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- 12 month (260-262 days)
- Salary & Benefits are as described in the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.(Group 1 - $38.85 per hour)
