For more information go to: of JobAbout the Work Unit: The Legislative Affairs work unit is responsible for advancing the policy and fiscal interests of the Department with both the Governors Office and the Colorado General Assembly. The Unit works on behalf of the Departments executive director coordinating and promoting the legislative agenda articulating the Departments position on legislative and fiscal matters and regularly engaging with external stakeholders and partners to accomplish the Departments policy and fiscal objectives.
What you Will Be Doing:
This position supports the Departments advocacy of its policy and fiscal objectives working in the Legislative Affairs work unit and at the direction of the Senior Director of Legislative Affairs. This position tracks legislation proposed for consideration by the Colorado General Assembly and communicates the status of legislation to Department staff and leadership. The position coordinates the efforts of Department staff to gather feedback on pending legislation and to prepare formal policy positions. It does this by notifying staff of legislation ready for review and by circulating a form or document to collect the feedback. On behalf of the Legislative Affairs work unit the position submits policy positions to the Governors Office for their consideration and to other state departments for their awareness. The position helps prepare materials and distribute logistical information for witnesses testifying at legislative hearings. The position coordinates constituent and General Assembly requests for information and submission of legislative reports. The position manages meeting scheduling for the Legislative Affairs work unit.Minimum Qualifications Substitutions Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience Only:Five (5) years of relevant experience in public policy law public administration public health or environmental protection
OR
Education and Experience:A combination of related education in public policy law public administration public health or environmental protection and/or relevant experience in public policy law public administration public health or environmental protection equal to five (5) years

Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the minimum requirements the successful candidate in this position will have the following highly desirable experience and competencies:
Previous experience tracking pending legislation
Previous experience working with large volumes of information and keeping records of information
Previous experience handling multiple tasks and deadlines
Previous experience organizing meetings and performing scheduling tasks
Previous experience collaborating with a team to achieve a common goal
Conditions of Employment:
Pursuant to CDPHE policy a background check is required for all positions at CDPHE.
Appeal Rights:
