Data Analyst Investment Data Architecture

Interested in joining one of Canadas top performing asset managers We are looking for a Data Analyst to join our Vancouver-based Investment Data Architecture (IDArch) team.
The IDArch Team resides within the middle office and works on projects to enhance data management capabilities across the organization. Our focus includes leading Modern Data Platform (MDP) initiatives building comprehensive metadata management frameworks and acting as primary owners of the Investment Data Management platform including security master pricing master and market reference data systems. What You Will Do
The IDArch Analyst is the bridge between system developers the investment data management team and key stakeholders including investment teams. As a business lead on MDP initiatives you will work closely with investment managers enterprise project team and various middle and back-office business units. You will leverage your financial and technical knowledge to provide critical investment data inputs across the investment operations process. Key responsibilities include:
- Establish Metadata Management Framework: Lead the development of metadata management practices including the creation of data lineage models data cataloging and data dictionary to ensure transparency accessibility and governance across all data assets.
- Understand Data Models: Convert business requirements into conceptual and logical data models in cloud platforms like Fabric and Snowflake. Explain data modeling concepts to non-technical stakeholders and support their use across business units.
- Implement Data Architecture Solutions: Collaborate on developing data integration systems ETL processes and centralizing data from multiple sources. Establish data governance strategies in partnership with data architects engineers and key stakeholders.
- Enhance Security Master Data Management: Develop and reengineer processes to maintain the accuracy and integrity of equity fixed income and derivative data within the security master system ensuring consistency across multiple systems and databases.
- Project Management: Lead or contribute to various strategic projects in collaboration with operational engineering and senior management teams.
- Assess Current Tools and Data Management Needs: Analyze existing data management tools and infrastructure to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.
- Optimize Data Workflows: Innovate and improve data workflows related to vendor systems internal and market data transfers valuation and benchmarking enhancing efficiency and reliability across all data processing operations.
- Advance Data Quality Assurance: Implement strategies to improve data quality resolving data-quality exceptions and upholding high standards of accuracy.
What You Bring
- Education: A degree in Finance Data Science Business Analysis or a related field. Designations such as CFA or FRM are an asset.
- Industry Experience: Previous exposure to investment management ideally with experience in equity fixed income or derivative data. Previous experience implementing an Enterprise Data Management (EDM) platform is a plus.
- Business and Technical Analysis: Strong ability to assess data management requirements and align them with business needs. Data centric project experience in a fast-paced environment is valuable.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with SQL Python/PySpark and Lakehouse architecture for modern data pipelines is beneficial. Experience with data modeling in Fabric Snowflake or other cloud environments will be an asset.
- Data Governance & Metadata Management: Understanding of data governance framework and experience with metadata management tools such as MS Purview or Solidatus is a plus.
- Data Science Acumen: Ability to work with large complex datasets and derive meaningful insights.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across teams and with various stakeholders. Collaborative mindset with a focus on delivering results.
- Accountability & Ownership: Demonstrated ability to take initiative and deliver outcomes with measurable results.
The salary range for this position is $75000-$95000. The salary range provided reflects the base salary range for this position as required by legislation. In addition there is an annual performance bonus which contributes to the total compensation of this position. Further questions may be directed to the HR team during the interview process.
