Were looking for a dedicated Criminal Investigator to join our team within the Evidence Control Unit who is ready to protect and serve with courage and this role youll provide the full range of police services regarding evidence chain of custody documentation evidence transfer & coordination evidence disposal operational support compliance & accreditation and system oversight. Minimum Qualifications
Two years of experience in law enforcement investigatory work or military intelligence work; OR
Twelve hours in law enforcement or a criminal justice field.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
Possession of a current Louisiana drivers license.
Willingness and ability to attain a Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification.
An applicant will be disqualified if he or she has been convicted of a felony or if there are any indictments or bills of information pending against him or her in which felony charges are included; or if he or she has been convicted within the past three years of hit and run or driving while intoxicated.Job Specification

Job Duties and Other Information
As a Criminal Investigator you will assist with the execution of all operational and administrative matters pertaining to the efficient administration of the departments evidence control this role you will:
- Perform work that requires planning coordination research and interaction with department personnel to assure compliance with department policy and procedure laws and rules and regulations in regards to evidence.
- Responsible for receiving storage security disposition and /or disposal of evidence.
- Complete all required computer entries and other documentation in the electronic evidence tracking system.
- Respond to inquiries from prosecutors outside agencies and departmental staff concerning the disposition of evidence.
- Assure that evidence is properly inventoried to ensure continuity.
- Responds to crime scenes and warrant services where the collection of evidence is necessary.
- Investigates violations of law.
- Researches current State Police operations to determine ways State Police may produce a more efficient attainment of operational goals.
- Testifies in federal and state courts to explain any questions that may arise concerning the State Police evidence security storage and tracking procedures.
