Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery improvement research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services.
The Department
Our Adult Inpatient Addictions and Mental Health Unit serves patients ages 18 to 65 who have symptoms of serious psychiatric illness or disorder requiring a safe and therapeutic environment during evaluation and treatment. We have 548 beds divided between two units Ground Floor and First Floor located at The Alfred. There are two units within each floor - the High Dependency Unit (HDU) where people may stay when they are acutely unwell and the Low Dependency Unit (LDU).
The Role
The role will be working as part of our Acute multidisciplinary team. The focus of the role will be supporting the needs of consumers admitted in both our high dependency unit (HDU) and low dependency unit (LDU). The Occupational therapist will provide group and sensory based interventions to consumers on ground floor and support consumers and the team with discharge planning needs. The Occupational therapist will assist with coordination of the group program on the ground floor unit and support the consumers and team to introduce sensory based interventions to consumers in the unit.
