The Facilities Team Lead at Biomason will administer all building-related activities for Biomasons Headquarters and any future company facilities ensuring the efficient operation maintenance and continuous improvement of production laboratory and office sites. This role provides technical knowledge for internal facilities activities and coordination of external service providers to manage preventive and corrective maintenance regulatory compliance space planning and capital improvement projects. The Facilities Team Lead also oversees infrastructure utility systems vendor relationships leases and facility services to ensure safe clean and productive work environments. This position reports to the Senior Manager Procurement & Lab Operations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Ensure building and facility equipment is fully operational well-maintained and available for use
Support internal teams (Operations R&D and Administrative) with timely resolution of facility issues including workspace needs utilities and office equipment
Oversee day-to-day operation maintenance and improvement of building systems including HVAC lighting electrical plumbing compressed air water treatment and security systems
Serve as the primary point of contact for facility-related vendors and contractors (e.g. janitorial landscaping HVAC security waste removal and maintenance services)
Manage building lease agreements and maintain an effective working relationship with the landlord
Maintain daily facility operations by delegating or completing maintenance work orders and ensuring prompt resolution of issues
Manage and maintain accurate records of critical spare parts supply inventory service schedules and contracts
Establish and track facility KPIs (e.g. uptime cost savings energy efficiency improvements and capital project execution)
Supervise and evaluate the quality of work performed by staff and contractors to ensure efficiency and compliance with standards
Develop implement and manage predictive and preventive maintenance schedules for facilities infrastructure and equipment
Prepare manage and forecast the facilities budget and facilities-related contracts and projects
Maintain facility cleanliness orderliness and overall functionality
Ensure compliance with all applicable safety standards policies and procedures and secure necessary permits
Ensure service contracts are current competitive and aligned with operational requirements
Lead facilities planning and execution for office lab and production areas including reconfigurations and relocations
Support experimental systems and pilot-scale operations within R&D facilities
Assist with large-scale precast element production including setup and operation of related equipment
Prepare and handle materials for testing following proper procedures and safety protocols
Collaborate with R&D leads to develop and document best practices in technical areas
Provide hands-on assistance for experimental builds and project-specific troubleshooting
Education/ Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications or training is a plus
57 years of experience in Facilities Management preferably in laboratory or manufacturing environments
Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with building systems and utilities including HVAC plumbing and electrical
Advanced mechanical skills and ability to troubleshoot facility systems
Familiarity with relevant safety environmental and building regulations (e.g. OSHA ADA local codes)
Experience managing vendor relationships service contracts and capital projects
Excellent organizational budgeting and project management skills
Experience with concrete production or precast operations is a plus
Competencies:
Excellent attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively
Hands-on experience with hand power and shop tools
Proficient in Google Workspace applications
Experience in physically demanding hands-on work environments
Highly organized proactive and flexible with a creative and persistent approach to problem-solving

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and support team members

Occasionally handles hazardous materials (e.g. oils corrosives petroleum products)

Periodically exposed to outdoor weather noise heat/cold dust and industrial environments
May be required to respond to off-hours facility emergencies if needed
