Job Summary: The Engineer VII - Senior Engineering Manager employs creativity foresight and mature judgment to anticipate and address unprecedented problems. This role involves making authoritative decisions and recommendations that significantly impact extensive organizational activities. The Engineer VII - Senior Engineering Manager is responsible for setting priorities reconciling competing interests and working on programs with complex features.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead a technical discipline team for the organization
- Develop standards and guidelines
- Perform additional tasks as required to meet business needs
Qualifications
Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
- Proficient with electronic communication including e-mail and text as well as standard office applications (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite)
- Possess exceptional oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrate skills in persuasion and negotiation of critical issues
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelors degree in engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Masters Degree or equivalent 15 years prior experience
- Engaged in life-long learning to stay current with contemporary issues
- Established relationships with railroad clients
- Business development skills
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards and guidelines
Additional Qualifications Certifications etc.:
- Professional Engineer (PE) equivalent or authorization of CLPO
- Member of a professional practice organization national board member or officer recognized expert on statewide activity and a resource for national activities and organization
