Pay Type: Full-Time Regular Exempt 35 hrs. /week
Work Schedule: M-F available to work weekends as needed
Work Location: Glassell Junior School a non-smoking facility
Summary:
The Glassell School of Art builds imagination creativity and understanding of human expression through programs and classes for people of all ages and at all skill and experience levels. The School has been the teaching arm of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston for nearly 100 years. Now with new leadership the Glassell School is set to embark on a major effort toward growth in enrollment over the coming five years. Glassell is comprised of four distinct areas: Junior School Studio School the Core Residency program and grant-driven special projects. The Junior School offers a unique and comprehensive approach to learning whereby students ages 3-14 can explore the aesthetic and intellectual aspects of art while engaging in hands-on art making and creative experiences. This position will require the ability to work effectively in a diverse community and meet the needs of diverse populations.
Responsibilities:
Skills Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to resolve conflicts. Strong computer skills (spreadsheets database management word processing). Strong organizational skills. Must be able to handle multiple projects and priorities. Must be analytical and detail oriented. Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed or required by the schools schedule. Must have and maintain a patient and nurturing demeanor with children.
Education and Experience:
Minimum education requirements include a preference for applicants with a high school diploma (or GED) or an equivalent combination of experience and education from which comparable and demonstrable knowledge skills and abilities have been achieved. B.A. degree in a related field and 2-3 years administrative and managerial experience preferred.
