About the opportunity
The Neurodiversity Programs Adviser plays a pivotal role in designing implementing and evaluating support programs and inclusive study resources that affirm and celebrate neurodivergent ways of thinking learning and engaging. This role champions Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles and collaborates across the University to embed best practices that foster a supportive accessible and empowering learning environment for neurodivergent students.
The role contributes directly to the Universitys commitment to universal design for learning equity and inclusion. Working closely with the Manager Accessibility and Inclusion the Specialist Peer Mentoring Program Coordinator and the wider Accessibility Services team the Neurodiversity Programs Adviser contributes to the delivery of a comprehensive holistic suite of services that support neurodivergent students academic success wellbeing and sense of belonging. This collaborative approach ensures that students receive coordinated person-centred support across their university journey.
What youll do:
- Develop coordinate and deliver strengths-based neuro-affirming educational and support programs tailored to the diverse needs of neurodivergent students.
- Create and curate accessible inclusive study tools and learning resources that align with Universal Design for Learning principles.
- Provide expert advice and consultation to academic and professional staff on inclusive teaching practices and neurodiversity awareness.
- Develop and deliver workshops and resources for university staff on neuro-affirming practice and contribute to university-wide initiatives that promote inclusive education.
- Work with the Specialist Peer Mentor (Speerment) Coordinator Manager Accessibility and Inclusion and the wider Accessibility Services Team.
What were looking for:
- A degree in education psychology social work or a related field or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
- Demonstrated understanding of neurodiversity and commitment to neuro-affirming inclusive practices within a higher education context.
- Experience in designing and delivering support programs or educational resources using Universal Design for Learning principles including experience on co-designing with students and other stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage respectfully and effectively with neurodivergent individuals.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively across teams and influence inclusive practice in complex environments.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 7 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $130943 comprising base salary within the range of $101821 to $111917 plus 17% superannuation.
