Our client is hiring a Hatchery Assistant to support in overseeing daily hatchery operations in line with company standards and poultry industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities

Support production planning including set plan coordination and egg planning.

Monitor and assist with the operation of setters hatchers and chick processing equipment.

Coordinate with the maintenance department for preventative maintenance activities.

Track and manage inventory of consumables vaccines and spare parts to ensure uninterrupted operations.

Enforce biosecurity measures and ensure correct use of cleaning chemicals and PPE.

Conduct chick quality assessments and maintain records of hatch performance fertility and chick quality trends.

Assist in enforcing occupational health safety and biosecurity procedures.

Conduct safety inspections and risk assessments as required.

Ensure staff are trained in emergency procedures and safe equipment operation.

Report incidents near misses or non-compliance issues to the Hatchery Manager.

Assist with hatcher operating budgets and stock control for egg vaccines consumables and PPE.
Qualifications
-
Education: Grade 12 with Mathematics and Science (minimum). National Diploma or Degree in Animal Production Science or Agricultural Management advantageous.

Experience: Minimum 3 years in poultry hatchery operations; supervisory or team leadership experience advantageous.

Certifications/Other: Valid drivers license required; biosecurity training certificate preferred.
