Job Title: Medical Supply Technician (MST) Sterile Processing

Location: 2615 East Clinton Avenue Fresno CA 93703.
Duration: 1 year contract
Shift Schedule:
- Two 8-hour shifts:
- 07:00 AM 03:30 PM
- 03:00 PM 11:30 PM
- No holidays or overtime are scheduled or authorized for payment.
License / Certifications:
- Required:
- Certification as a Medical Supply Technician / Sterile Processing Technician
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in the field
- Preferred:
- Active Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (not mandatory but desirable)
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Green Card holder
- Must not appear on the OIG Exclusion List or SAM Exclusions.
Education:
- Verifiable education and training records required
Minimum Qualification / Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in sterile processing
- Must be technically proficient in sterile processing procedures
- Able to pass background checks and required medical clearances
- Must complete all VA-mandated annual trainings including:
- Infection control
- Government ethics
- Emergency preparedness
- Privacy and HIPAA
- Safety/Security training and more.
Responsibilities:
Medical Supply Technicians (MSTs) play a critical role in ensuring safe and sterile medical environments. Responsibilities include:
- Cleaning and decontamination of surgical instruments and reusable medical devices (RMD)
- Use of sterilization equipment: autoclaves V-Pro machine washers and ultrasonics
- Adherence to sterilization standards per AAMI AORN FDA and OSHA guidelines
- Inspection of instruments for damage or defects; ensuring readiness for medical use
- Packaging and labeling of instruments to maintain sterility and ensure traceability
- Maintaining accurate records of cleaning sterilization and maintenance
- Use of PPE to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a safe work environment
- Participating in training of new staff on best practices
- Working in a fast-paced healthcare environment across inpatient units outpatient clinics and community living centers
- Operating in accordance with VA policies and directives including infection control and HIPAA regulations
