Packaging Development Specialist - Howick
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and creative Packaging Development Specialist who can thrive in a fast-paced cross-functional team in Howick.
Responsibilities:- Support the Marketing Manager in developing and refining the annual packaging NPD (New Product Development) strategy
- Lead the implementation of packaging NPD projects ensuring alignment with business objectives
- Manage the packaging NPD budget ensuring cost-effective allocation and accurate tracking of expenses
- Source and evaluate packaging suppliers negotiate pricing and manage initial orders
- Optimise packaging artwork and design to balance quality cost and brand alignment
- Drive cost optimisation of existing packaging orders in collaboration with procurement
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure timely and successful project delivery
- Maintain accurate reporting on project progress budget performance and supplier compliance
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities in packaging procurement and development
- Ensure all packaging complies with regulatory sustainability and quality standards
- Communicate effectively with suppliers to manage sourcing compliance and specifications
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation including packaging specs test results and compliance records
- Incorporate feedback from production marketing sales and dispatch teams to refine packaging solutions
Requirements:- Bachelors degree in Packaging Engineering Industrial Design Supply Chain or related field
- 5 Years of experience in packaging development or project management preferably in FMCG or manufacturing
- Creative problem-solver with a strategic mindset
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced cross-functional environment
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
- Proficiency in packaging materials artwork processes and sustainability practices
- Excellent project management and communication skills
- Valid code 08 drivers license
- Strong MS Excel knowledge
