The Scientist I for Cytiva is responsible for the technical and scale-up aspects of developing Cytivas lipid and formulation portfolio. This position is part of the R&D Department located in Vancouver BC and will be on-site. At Cytiva our vision is to advance future therapeutics from discovery to delivery.
This position reports to the Sr Manager Delivery and is part of the R&D team located in Vancouver BC and will be an on-site role.
In this role you will have the opportunity to:
Optimize small-scale synthetic routes to ensure robust results raw material availability and safety & environmental compliance at increased scale.
Define scale-up strategies to increase yields improve quality and reduce costs as compared to small-scale processes.
Design and execute experiments to determine target and acceptable operating ranges for reaction and purification conditions and establish required quality attributes of raw materials and intermediates.
Prepare technical transfer documentation and provide technical support to manufacturing partners ensuring efficient transfer of the developed chemistry.
Perform root cause analysis and execute supporting experiments to determine the cause of failures during late-stage development scale-up or full-scale batches.
The essential requirements of the job include:
Minimum bachelors degree in chemistry / chemical engineering with relevant process chemistry experience. 2-5 years industry experience in the synthesis of complex organic molecules is preferred.
Demonstrated GMP and CMC experience in taking a molecule from pre-clinical stage to clinical programs.
Demonstrated broad knowledge of organic chemistry and the ability to independently design and optimize scalable and economical processes.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and solve complex technical issues resulting in successful technology transfer from development to commercialization.
Understanding of cGMP safety and other relevant regulations.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Process development for lipids or active pharmaceutical ingredients in the biotechnology industry.
Process scale-up selecting and sourcing raw materials and setting specifications for intermediates and final product.
The salary range for this role is $80K-$100K CAD. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.
This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
